I am currently a Senior Machine Learning Platform Engineer at Freenome where I work on building tools to help detect cancer. Previously, I was a data scientist on the ancestry team and later a Machine Learning Engineer on the Health Machine Learning team at 23andMe where I developed Recent Ancestor Locations and a good deal of the feature engineering pipeline for Polygenic Risk Score algorithms. Previously I have worked as a Bioinformatician at Scripps Research and as a Machine Learning Consultant at Juno Diagnostics. For my Ph.D research, I studied transcriptional gene regulation in C. elegans and my day job involves applying large scale computing to solving problems in genetics!

On the side, I enjoy painting (i.e.: the portrait you see above), hiking, and I do some gamedev as a hobby. I’ve been working on a solodev VR starfighter project Rogue Stargun since 2020.
Note: This blog may be somewhat biased towards my hobby projects like gamedev, learning new programming languages, etc. I promise to add more posts on biotechnology and machine learning in the future!
